Pakistan’s star fast bowler Haris Rauf has created history in the Big Bash League (BBL) by becoming the fastest bowler to reach 50 wickets in the tournament.

Rauf achieved the milestone during the high-voltage Melbourne derby between Melbourne Stars and Melbourne Renegades, reaching the landmark in just 30 matches — the quickest by any bowler in BBL history.

His 50th BBL wicket came against Jake Fraser-McGurk, and he followed it up by dismissing Will Sutherland, taking his tally to 51 wickets overall.

Rauf Surpasses John Hastings’ Record

The previous record for the fastest 50 wickets belonged to John Hastings, who reached the mark in 38 matches. Haris Rauf shattered that benchmark by achieving the feat eight matches earlier, underlining his impact as one of the most dangerous fast bowlers in T20 cricket.

Bowling for the Melbourne Stars, Rauf finished with figures of 2 for 31 in four overs, delivering crucial breakthroughs as the Renegades attempted to accelerate.

Tournament’s Leading Wicket-Taker

Haris Rauf is currently the leading wicket-taker of the season, with 15 wickets in 8 innings, further strengthening his reputation as a strike bowler in franchise cricket.

On the batting front, Renegades wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan, a teammate of Rauf, could not make a major impact. He was dismissed for 21 off 20 balls by Stars captain Marcus Stoinis.

At the innings break, the Renegades posted 166/7 in 20 overs, setting the Stars a competitive target in the derby clash.

Rauf’s record-breaking performance once again highlights Pakistan’s growing influence in top global T20 leagues.
