The Islamabad district administration has announced that today is the final deadline for vehicle owners to install M-Tags, warning that strict action will begin from tomorrow against vehicles found without the electronic tag.

According to officials, the M-Tag system has already been implemented on more than 100,000 vehicles across the federal capital. Authorities stated that the response from citizens has increased significantly in recent weeks, prompting the administration to further enhance facilities at M-Tag centers.

Staff and Stock Increased at M-Tag Centers

To facilitate vehicle owners, the district administration has increased staff strength and M-Tag stock at designated centers. This move aims to ensure that maximum vehicles can be issued M-Tags before enforcement begins.

Officials confirmed that since November 14, the number of vehicles fitted with M-Tags has crossed the one-lakh mark, reflecting growing compliance ahead of the deadline.

Entry Restrictions to Begin From January 1

Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Memon stated that from January 1, vehicles without M-Tags will be stopped at various entry points of the city. He added that automatic tag readers installed at entry locations will become fully operational from the same date.

These readers will identify vehicles without M-Tags, allowing authorities to take immediate action against violators.

Citizens Urged to Avoid Penalties

The district administration has urged citizens to get M-Tags installed immediately to avoid inconvenience, fines, or denial of entry into Islamabad. Officials emphasized that the enforcement drive is part of broader efforts to improve traffic management, digital monitoring, and city security.

Authorities reiterated that no relaxation will be given once enforcement officially begins.
