The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has issued a strong warning to social media users, urging them to avoid posting or sharing hateful, defamatory, or misleading content online.

In an official statement shared on social media, the PTA asked users to immediately remove any misleading or false material and refrain from becoming part of coordinated narratives or campaigns that could harm individuals, institutions, or national integrity.

The authority reminded users that under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), deliberately spreading false information or damaging someone’s reputation is a punishable offense.

The PTA emphasized that responsible digital behavior is a national duty, especially at a time when misinformation spreads rapidly on social platforms.
