The Punjab Higher Education Department (HED) has officially announced an extension in winter vacations for colleges and higher education institutions across the province due to severe cold weather conditions.
According to a notification issued by the department, the decision has been taken in continuation of the earlier notification released on December 22, 2025, keeping in view the increasing intensity of winter in Punjab.

Updated Winter Vacation Schedule
As per the notification, winter vacations in all public and private higher education institutions under the Higher Education Department have been extended from January 10 to January 16, 2026.
It has further been clarified that all government and private colleges across Punjab will remain closed until January 18, and regular academic activities will resume on January 19, 2026.
Classes and Exams to Continue
Despite the extension in winter vacations, the notification states that:

Four-year BS program classes

Scheduled board and university examinations
will continue as per their existing schedules.
The department emphasized that the decision was taken to safeguard students’ health while ensuring that critical academic and examination activities remain uninterrupted.
