The Punjab government has officially decided to extend winter vacations in schools and colleges by one week due to the intensifying cold weather across the province.
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat, while speaking to a private TV channel, said the decision was taken keeping in view the health and safety of students, stressing that children’s well-being is the government’s top priority.

He confirmed that a formal notification will be issued after a meeting scheduled at 3:00 PM today.
“I want to make it clear beforehand that we are extending winter vacations due to the severity of cold,” the minister stated.
The move comes after widespread demands from parents, who had urged authorities to extend school holidays amid harsh weather conditions affecting children’s health and daily routines.
Once issued, the notification will apply to both schools and colleges across Punjab.
