Punjab has further expanded its green public transport initiative with the launch of electric bus services in Bahawalpur under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s Transport Vision 2030.
According to the official announcement, the new electric bus service will operate on multiple routes across Bahawalpur, improving urban mobility while promoting environmentally friendly transportation.

The electric buses will operate on the following routes:

Al-Raheem Town – Goth Lashkar
Officials said the routes were selected to connect key residential and commercial areas, ensuring maximum public benefit.

As part of the programme, the Punjab government has announced free travel for students and senior citizens on the Bahawalpur electric bus service, making public transport more accessible and affordable.

The Bahawalpur launch is part of Punjab’s broader plan to expand electric bus services beyond Lahore. Earlier, the provincial government confirmed that fleets had already reached several other districts ahead of launch.
Cities included in the expansion plan are:
Rawalpindi, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujar Khan, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, and Rajanpur.
Officials say the initiative aims to reduce fuel costs, lower emissions, and modernize public transport across Punjab.
