Pakistan’s space agency SUPARCO has released its prediction regarding the Shaban moon sighting for 2026, giving clarity on when the Islamic month is likely to begin.
According to SUPARCO, the new moon of Shaban will be born on January 19, 2026. At the time of sunset, the moon’s age will be 17 hours and 36 minutes, which is considered relatively young for clear visibility.

SUPARCO further stated that in coastal areas, the time difference between sunset and moonset will be 33 minutes. Due to these conditions, the chances of moon sighting on the evening of January 19 are low.
Based on astronomical calculations, 1st Shaban is expected to fall on January 20, 2026.
However, it is important to note that the final and official announcement will be made by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee of Pakistan after receiving moon sighting testimonies.
The month of Shaban holds great religious importance for Muslims, as it comes just before Ramadan and is associated with increased worship and preparation for fasting.
