New facility launched for those who get ID cards

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced a new facilitation initiative aimed at making identity card services more accessible for citizens across Pakistan.

Under this new arrangement, people can now obtain reprints of lost Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) and apply for CNIC renewal directly from selected E-Sahulat franchises, reducing dependency on overcrowded NADRA registration centers.

Cities Included in the First Phase

In the initial pilot phase, the service has been launched at 18 E-Sahulat franchises located in:

Islamabad
Rawalpindi
Lahore
Karachi

NADRA officials say more cities will be added once the pilot phase is successfully completed.

Service Charges Explained

According to NADRA, citizens will be charged:

Official NADRA fee (as per existing schedule), plus
Rs. 100 E-Sahulat service charge

Each participating franchise will have a NADRA-designated officer present to ensure transparency, verification, and smooth processing of applications.

Why This Initiative Matters

Pakistan currently has over 22,000 E-Sahulat franchises nationwide, with more than 9,500 offering biometric facilities. This makes the system especially helpful for:

Illiterate citizens
Elderly individuals
People without smartphones or internet access

The initiative is expected to significantly reduce congestion at NADRA centers, while saving citizens time, travel costs, and repeated visits.

Nationwide Expansion Planned

NADRA has confirmed that following the success of the pilot project, the service will be expanded across the country, allowing millions to access identity services closer to home.
