Balochistan has become the latest province to introduce a Pink Bus service, a public transport initiative designed exclusively for women and female students, aimed at ensuring safe, comfortable, and dignified daily travel.
The service was officially inaugurated by Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti, who shared the development on social media platform X. According to the chief minister, the initiative reflects the provincial government’s commitment to improving women’s mobility and participation in public life.

Permanent Women-Focused Transport Initiative
Chief Minister Bugti stated that the Pink Bus service will operate on a permanent basis, unlike short-term pilot projects launched in the past. He emphasized that the initiative is intended to provide women with a reliable transport option for commuting to educational institutions, workplaces, and healthcare facilities.
Expansion Planned Across Balochistan
The chief minister further announced that the service will be expanded to other districts of Balochistan in the next phase, allowing more women across the province to benefit. Officials believe improved transport access will help address long-standing mobility challenges faced by women, particularly in urban and semi-urban areas.

In a separate statement, Bugti said his government is actively working to provide greater facilities and opportunities for women across multiple sectors. He noted that such initiatives also send a strong message to what he described as extremist elements, who attempt to discourage Baloch women from pursuing education and personal development.
According to the chief minister, empowering women through safe transport and access to public services is essential for social progress, economic inclusion, and long-term development in the province.
Growing Trend Across Pakistan
The launch of the Pink Bus service in Balochistan follows similar women-focused transport initiatives introduced in other provinces, highlighting a growing national focus on gender-sensitive public infrastructure.
