Private School Students Finally Included in Punjab’s Laptop Scheme

In a major relief for students, the provincial government has decided to include private school students in its laptop distribution scheme, under which 10,000 free laptops will be provided.

The announcement was made by Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar, who said the competent authority has formally approved the decision and the distribution process will be completed within the current year.

Education Budget Increased to Rs 110 Billion

The minister revealed that the province’s education development budget has been increased to Rs 110 billion, reflecting the government’s focus on improving access to quality education and digital learning facilities.

Key Education Reforms Highlighted

Sharing progress on ongoing reforms, Rana Sikandar said:

  • 268 schools were upgraded during 2025

  • Decisions were issued in 37 cases related to teacher harassment

  • The Teacher Takreem Awards were launched for the first time to recognize outstanding educators

Centres of Excellence & Schools of Eminence

The education minister also announced that work has started on:

  • Establishing Centres of Excellence in 10 districts

  • Developing 300 Schools of Eminence across the province

According to officials, these initiatives aim to raise academic standards, improve infrastructure, and ensure better learning outcomes for students in both public and private sectors.

The inclusion of private school students in the laptop scheme is being seen as a significant step toward digital inclusion, especially for students who were previously excluded from such government programs.
