SIMs that have not been used for calls, messages, or internet for 180 days will be blocked and later made available to new users.

According to PTA, the decision aims to:

Improve mobile network performance

Prevent illegal activities carried out via unused SIMs

Reduce fraud and scams originating from inactive numbers
Inactive SIMs have previously been used for various fraudulent activities, causing problems for users, mobile companies, and other institutions.
How It Will Work

The policy applies to all mobile operators in Pakistan.

SIMs inactive for 180 days will be deactivated fairly and transparently.

Deactivated SIMs will then be reissued to new users, making them functional again.
