Bangladesh have officially announced their 15-member squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, with Litton Das named captain, as uncertainty continues over the venues of their India-based fixtures.

The announcement comes at a time when the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is actively urging the ICC to relocate Bangladesh’s matches scheduled in India to Sri Lanka, citing security concerns for its players.

The squad blends experience with emerging talent, with Saif Hassan appointed vice-captain and a strong bowling attack included.

Bangladesh Squad:

  • Litton Das (c, wk)

  • Saif Hassan (vc)

  • Towhid Hridoy

  • Pravez Hossain Emon

  • Shamin Hossain

  • Nurul Hasan

  • Mahedi Hasan

  • Rishad Hossain

  • Nasum Ahmed

  • Mustafizur Rahman

  • Tanzim Hasan Sakib

  • Taskin Ahmed

  • Shoriful Islam

  • Mohammad Saifuddin

  • Tanzid Hasan

Group Stage & Scheduled Matches

Bangladesh have been placed in Group C of the tournament. Under the current ICC schedule, they are set to:

  • Open against West Indies on February 7 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata

  • Face Italy and England at the same venue on February 9 and 14

  • Play Nepal on February 17 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai

However, these venues remain uncertain from Bangladesh’s perspective.

Why Bangladesh Want Matches Moved

The BCB has already written to the ICC requesting that Bangladesh’s World Cup matches in India be shifted to Sri Lanka, the tournament’s co-host.

This stance follows the controversial removal of Mustafizur Rahman from the IPL by Kolkata Knight Riders on instructions from the BCCI, a move that raised concerns within the BCB about the broader security environment for Bangladeshi players in India.

Bangladesh have now sought formal assurances from the ICC regarding player safety before committing fully to the existing schedule.

With the World Cup fast approaching, the situation adds an extra layer of uncertainty to Bangladesh’s campaign planning.
