The Pakistan Meteorological Department has released an important prediction regarding the sighting of the Ramadan moon in Pakistan.

According to the department, there is a strong possibility that 1st Ramadan may fall on February 19, 2026, as the crescent is likely to be visible on the evening of February 18.

Moon Birth and Visibility Details

Officials stated that the new moon will be born on February 17, 2026, at 5:01 PM. By the time of observation on February 18, the moon’s age will be sufficient for sighting in many parts of the country.

Experts explain that a moon age exceeding 19 hours generally improves visibility chances.

Karachi Visibility Outlook

For Karachi, the department noted that on February 18:

Moon age will be around 26 hours
Sunset time: 6:25 PM
Moonset time: 7:24 PM

These conditions increase the likelihood of successful sighting.

Weather Conditions Across Pakistan

Partly cloudy skies are expected in most regions. However, meteorologists believe weather conditions will not pose major obstacles to moon sighting.

Final Decision Rests with Ruet-e-Hilal Committee
