Electricity Gets Costlier Under December Fuel Price Adjustment

The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has increased electricity prices under the December fuel price adjustment, issuing an official notification.

How Much Increase?

Electricity has been made 28 paisa per unit more expensive. The additional charges will be collected in February electricity bills.

Who Will Be Affected

The increase will apply to consumers across Pakistan, including those served by K-Electric.

However, the following categories are exempt:

  • Lifeline consumers

  • Electric vehicle charging stations

Background of the Decision

The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) had requested an increase of 48 paisa per unit, but NEPRA approved a lower adjustment after reviewing the data.

What Is Fuel Price Adjustment?

Fuel price adjustments are periodic changes reflecting fluctuations in fuel costs used for electricity generation. These adjustments aim to align power tariffs with actual production expenses.
