Official Orders Issued

The Punjab Council of the Arts has formally issued directives to all concerned theatre administrations, instructing them to keep their venues completely closed during Shab-e-Meraj.

The notification clearly states that theatre owners and managements must ensure strict compliance with the orders.

Reason Behind the Decision

Shab-e-Meraj holds immense religious importance in Islam, commemorating the miraculous night journey of Hazrat Muhammad ﷺ. Authorities emphasized that the decision was taken out of respect for the sanctity of the night.

Action in Case of Violation

Officials warned that legal action may be taken against any theatre found violating the closure orders. Relevant laws and regulations will be enforced to ensure compliance across the province.

The move reflects the government’s commitment to upholding religious values and public sentiment during sacred occasions.
