Pakistans announce T20 World Cup 2026 Squad

Pakistan’s probable squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 is gradually taking shape, with final consultations expected later this week before an official announcement by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

According to sources, white-ball head coach Mike Hesson is expected to arrive in Lahore following the conclusion of Pakistan’s tour of Sri Lanka. The final squad will be decided after detailed discussions between the coaching staff and national selectors, and will require approval from PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.

PCB Has Already Informed ICC

Sources revealed that the PCB has already submitted a preliminary squad list to the ICC. However, changes can still be made until January 31 without seeking formal approval from the global body.

Pakistan’s T20I squad is set to return home after the Sri Lanka series, after which further meetings are expected. Captain Salman Ali Agha is also likely to be part of the consultation process as selectors finalize team combinations.

Sources added that Abdul Samad, Mohammad Wasim Jr, and Usman Tariq are among players likely to be kept as reserve options.

Australia T20I Series Also Discussed

Separately, the PCB has shared a proposed schedule with Cricket Australia for an upcoming three-match T20I series. Two draft itineraries are under discussion, with Australia likely to arrive in Pakistan on January 26 or 27 and depart on February 2 or 3. Tentative match dates include January 29, January 31, and February 1.

The final T20 World Cup squad is expected to be announced once all consultations are completed, setting the tone for Pakistan’s preparations ahead of the global tournament.
