Govt Assures No Harassment
During the meetings, the concerns of school administrations were acknowledged, and authorities assured that parents and private school managements will not face any difficulties in any district of Sindh.
Following these assurances, private school associations across Sindh announced the withdrawal of the strike call scheduled for Friday, January 9, confirming that all private schools and colleges will remain open.
Background of the Strike Call
It is worth recalling that the Grand Alliance of School Associations had earlier announced a province-wide shutdown of private schools and colleges on January 9.
School association leaders had expressed serious reservations over ongoing verification drives by Anti-Corruption teams inside schools, stating that such actions were causing unnecessary pressure on institutions.

During a press conference, association leaders cited a Sindh High Court Sukkur Bench decision dated December 8, 2025, under which Anti-Corruption authorities were tasked with verifying free-ship lists submitted by regional directors.
However, they argued that direct inspections of schools violate the Sindh Private Institutions Act 2013, which clearly designates the Directorate of Private Institutions as the sole regulatory authority.
School representatives maintained that any interference by other departments is unlawful and unnecessary.
Education Sector’s Role Highlighted
Speakers emphasized that education is a key pillar of national development, yet millions of children in Sindh remain out of school. They highlighted that private educational institutions, despite limited resources, are providing education to millions of students at affordable fees and offering free-ship facilities as a social responsibility.
