After a gap of four years, the Punjab Examination Commission (PEC/PECTA) has introduced new rules for 8th class board examinations, marking a major overhaul in the examination system across the province.

For the first time, the commission has launched a school mapping system to establish examination centers, ensuring better planning, transparency, and student convenience.

8th Class Board Exams Return After 4 Years With New Rules in Punjab

According to PECTA officials, strict implementation of the new guidelines will be ensured across Punjab. Under the updated policy, each examination center must accommodate a minimum of 50 and a maximum of 300 students.

Exam Centers Within 10km Radius

To reduce travel difficulties, examination centers will now be established within a 10-kilometer radius of students’ schools, making it easier for candidates to reach their exam venues safely and on time.

Separate Centers for Boys and Girls

The new rules clearly state that:

  • Separate examination centers will be arranged for boys and girls

  • School-based exam centers will not be allowed under the revised system

Fully Digital Monitoring System

PECTA officials confirmed that:

  • School mapping

  • Exam center allocation

  • Examination data

will be collected and managed through a dedicated online application, ensuring greater transparency, monitoring, and fairness throughout the examination process.

Authorities emphasized that these reforms aim to make the examination system more transparent, efficient, and student-friendly, while providing a standardized and secure exam environment for 8th class students across Punjab.
