3 Public Holidays Announced on Shab-e-Meraj

Kuwait and Oman have officially announced public holidays on the occasion of Shab-e-Meraj, which will be observed on the night of 27th Rajab 1447 Hijri, corresponding to January 18, 2026.

According to official notifications, all government and private institutions, including schools and colleges, will remain closed in both countries on this day.

Three-Day Holiday in Kuwait

In Kuwait, authorities have approved a three-day holiday schedule to mark the religious occasion.

  • Friday, January 16: Weekly off

  • Saturday, January 17: Official holiday

  • Sunday, January 18: Public holiday (declared as a compensatory off)

Government offices in Kuwait will resume normal operations on Monday, January 19, 2026.

Oman Declares January 18 Holiday

In Oman, a one-day public holiday has been declared on January 18, with closures across public offices and educational institutions.

No Public Holiday in UAE

Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates has not announced a general public holiday for Shab-e-Meraj. Offices and institutions in the UAE are expected to operate as usual.
